This past February, designers, fashion lovers and celebrities partook in fashion month, during which the newest trends for fall hit catwalks around the world. Trend-spotters keep their eyes peeled, often using the “rule of three,” which is explained here, to determine a style’s staying power. When a trend hits the runway a third time, it’s safe to say that it will become a staple in trendsetters’ wardrobes for the season.
Fall 2015 ready-to-wear trends include ‘70s motifs, furry flair and patchwork galore, to name a few. However, while the clothing is often the main course for a fashion show guest, one must not forget that the accessories are the cherry on top for ultimate style success. With the right jewelry, an outfit elevates from plain to put-together, and trend-spotters would be missing a big point if they only paid attention to the ready-to-wear options on the runways.
Caught on the catwalk, there are five big jewelry trends that fashion followers are already wearing. Some more unexpected than others, style savants will be able to express their innermost creativity with these not-so-subtle jewelry looks.
1. (Fake) Nose Rings
A page out of the punk fashion book, rebellious nose rings are receiving a high-fashion, non-committal makeover this season, with fake nose rings gracing faces in a whole new style. Dainty septum jewels like those seen on Acne Studios’ models are an edgy way to add uniqueness and accessorize unconventionally.
Brooches have emerged with modernism and ornate detail, leaving behind dated garishness. Spotted in runway shows like Fausto Puglisi, Edun, Balenciaga, Parada and Luisa Beccaria, as chronicled in this article, the once old-fashioned piece is now an indicator of fashion forward chicness.
The ‘90s are back with thick, bold chokers. Some are cascading with couture details, such as the Swarovski crystal varieties found at Balenciaga’s show. Louis Vuitton preferred to reside with the gothic, rocker feel of the ’80s, offering leather chokers. Virtually any choker style is a hit this season.
4. Statement Rings
Though stacked rings are still stylish, the new finger fashion involves adorning your hands with large, baroque statement-making rings like many found in this collection—sometimes with a few on each hand. On the catwalk, Gucci’s Art Deco rings were plentiful and complementary to one another, creating a style worth the joint effort.
Often reserved for sorority girls and prepsters, pearls are being seen from a fresh perspective this fall, appearing in magnified sizes and darker hues in addition to the traditional white style. According to this report, Cuff bracelets and ear jackets were seen on the runways with the ‘80s-esque attitude brought on by big pearls.
What do you think about these fall jewelry trends? Do you think they’re all here to stay or are some destined to fade?
